A couple weeks ago I told you Lily was getting a new leg, that bends. It is here, and it bends.
The knee has been a HUGE change for her. She can no longer walk independently. Physical therapy is helping her learn to bend and walk on the knee. In between those sessions and us helping her, she uses her walker.
The "socket" has new fabric! It was picket out by Mom and chosen by Lily! She is really into Hello Kitty lately. So the socket has Hello Kitty all over it!
She is doing SO well. But it's hard seeing her cry when her knee gives out unexpectedly.
And you can see her death grip as she cruises along furniture. She becomes so scared of it bending she practically drags it along. She is getting better though.
I'm not concerned, she'll be running before I know it! Despite the fact her world has changed she still keeps smiling on.
Sometimes I wish I had her determination. She never gives up.

Oh my goodness...how wonderful and also heartbreaking to see such a determined little girl try so hard and get so scared.
I'm visiting for the first time via. Ni hao y'all (PS I used to live in China) and i had a click around...I'm really inspired by your family's story and your great photographs. Really. You're amazing!
Bless her heart. What a beautiful little girl.
Fabulous photos! Such a beautiful girl, and I love the story you have told with these photos. Joining you from finagle a foto.
How wonderful<3
love it!
Very touching post. And great photo's!!
My Hannah from China has a non-bending leg. Thanks for the heads up that transitioning to an articulating knee leg might not be as easy as we thought!
Her smile is captivating! What a strong and courageous little sitter you have and your photos are beautiful!!! Congrats on being chosen SS winner for last week :) What a blessing you must be to your Lily to have you as a big sister who obviously loves her very much.
I saw your photo featured on Ni Hao Ya'll, and had to share...our 5 year old adopted son from China also has an above the knee prosthetic, and it looks a lot like your daughter's. This is his second leg, and the first with a knee (it looks almost exactly like your daughter's). He's been very hesitant to bend it, and generally avoids it by swinging it out to the side. We go to Shriner's in Greenville, SC and they've recently told us that it's okay for now, that his next leg will have more room (length) and will make the bending easier / more natural / not as scary! Dylan also hates to have it bend unexpectantly, hence the avoidance.
Just thought I'd share! We have a blog as well, www.handsful.com Come by and check our little guy out! (We also have 4 bio kids and a 6 year old daughter from China)
